Hackathons on Showcase connect competitions to the Products and Builders already living on the platform.
Create a competition
Set the prize pool, eligibility, team limits, format, registration window, submission window, judging window, rules, participation details, and optional tracks. New Hackathons start with a weighted rubric and starter submission questions that the organizer can extend.
Form a team
Select a Showcase Product to register. Accepted Product co-builders seed the Hackathon team. When the Product has more builders than the event allows, the captain chooses the participating subset. Every selected member must accept before final submission.
Judge without leaking results
Judges score submitted Products against weighted criteria. Organizers can enable blind judging and judges can declare conflicts. Scores remain private workspace data and never publish a winner automatically.
Publish official results
The organizer prepares awards and rankings privately after judging. Publishing is atomic after the judging window ends, so winners appear together on the Hackathon page and official awards can be attributed to the Product and accepted team members.
Control participation credit
Accepted team membership stays private by default. After official results are published, a Builder on a submitted, valid entry can explicitly choose to show participation on their Builder profile. Participation is separate from an award and can be made private again at any time.
Product team and Hackathon team are different.
Product membership only seeds the team. Later Product co-builder changes do not silently change an active Hackathon entry, and submitted entries preserve a frozen Product and team snapshot for judging.
